Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport capped the concrete structure of the west No 4 corridor on July 11 after 233 days of construction, becoming the first completely-capped project of the airport's Phase III expansion.
The corridor is located between Terminal 1 and 2 of the airport. It will connect the two terminals into one whole and form a primary terminal area of the airport upon operation. By then, the airport will be the largest civil airport in China in terms of single terminal floorage.
The corridor's constructor the China Construction Eighth Engineering Bureau's South China Branch has cooperated closely with various professional units to finely optimize the construction deployment, solving problems like the conversion of old and new rainwater tanks, as well as the replacement of foundation pits for new rainwater tanks.
Installation of the steel structure for the corridor will be carried out and efforts will be made to turn the expansion project into one that utilizes smart technology, is energy saving, is convenient in terms of maintenance, as well as boasts Lingnan characteristics.
