Nanfang Hospital's Baiyun branch starts Phase II construction

Construction started on Phase II of the Baiyun branch of Nanfang Hospital of Southern Medical University on Aug 14, and is expected to be completed within two years.
The project aims to build an influential and competitive district-level medical center that promotes the high-quality development of the medical and health care industry in Baiyun district, while influencing the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
With a total investment of 1 billion yuan ($148 million), the project features a total floorage of more than 70,000 square meters. It focuses on building an inpatient building with 22 floors above ground and two floors underground. Upon completion, 800 hospital beds will be added in the hospital.
Yang Yanze, executive deputy district chief of Baiyun, said that the project is an important milestone in comprehensively promoting Baiyun's health care industry, further implementing the work requirements of the municipal government.
Since the Baiyun branch's Phase I project opened on Dec 18, 2020, it has received more than 370,000 outpatients and about 14,000 inpatients. The hospital has been highly recognized by the general public as a 3A-grade hospital that residents can access conveniently.
