Bridge linking Baiyun, Foshan to be built in 3 years
Chenxiang Bridge, an important passage across the Pearl River connecting Foshan and Guangzhou, is expected to start construction in January 2023, local media outlets reported on Aug 15.
The projects total length is planned to be 3.86 kilometers, of which the Foshan section is expected to be 0.95 km. Its main roads are expected to have a designated speed of 60 km per hour and be open to the public in January 2025.
The steel structure arch bridge starts on Liguang Road in Lishui town in Foshan in the west, and spans eastward along Jinfeng Avenue to the west bank of the Pearl River, and then crosses the Pearl River and Chenxiang Island. After passing through Chatou Mountain on the east bank of the Pearl River, it will cross Zengcha Road and end at Xicha Road (Baiyun Line 1) in Guangzhou.
Measures such as installing sound barriers, low-noise pavement, and speed limitations to reduce vehicular noise, dust, and exhaust will be taken into account in the design and construction stages of the bridge in consideration of the living environment of the residents along the route.
Located on the north side of Jinshazhou, the bridge will effectively alleviate the areas traffic congestion as well as further improve service capabilities of Baiyun Station after opening to the public.
