The intercity railway expansion from Xintang Station to Guangzhou North Station via Baiyun International Airport Terminal 2 moves forward in construction on Sept 16.

The laying of the 57-kilometer track rails is expected to be completed by the end of October, while the Guangzhou North Station to the airport Terminal 2 section already opened in November 2020.  

The intercity railway runs through Guangzhou's Huadu, Baiyun, Huangpu and Zengcheng districts. 

It has a total of 13 stations including Huacheng Street Station, Airport Terminal 1 Station and Zhuliao Station, with a designated speed of 160 km per hour.

The railway upon completion will provide an additional level of convenience for the citizens to commute to the key cities in the Pearl River Delta (PRD) region such as Guangzhou and Shenzhen, as well as to Qingyuan, Huizhou, and Zhaoqing.

It is of great significance to accelerate the construction of transport infrastructure in the PRD region and to promote its regional economic development.
