Baiyun wins 3 gold medals at 2022 WorldSkills Competition

Competitors from Guangzhou's Baiyun district won three gold and one silver medals at the WorldSkills Competition 2022 Special Edition, which is being held in 15 countries from mid-September to late-November, encompassing 62 events in total, local media outlets reported on Oct 18.
Wu Hongyu and Zhou Chujie from Guangdong Machinery Technician College won two gold medals in CNC lathe and milling, while Lin Weitong from the same college won a silver medal in additive manufacturing.
Yang Shuming from Guangzhou Industry and Trade Technician College won the gold medal in mobile application development, being the first gold medal winner of this newly-added event.
Dubbed the "Olympics of Vocational Skills," the biennial competition is the largest and most prestigious of its kind. It aims to raise the profile and recognition of skilled people, as well as show how important vocational skills are in achieving economic growth.
To date, China leads with a medal tally of eight gold, one silver, and one bronze medals, as well as four medallions for excellence in 14 competition events that have been completed.
