Huawei injects vitality into Baiyun's future development
Huawei has set up its research and development (R&D) center on Songzhou Street, Baiyun district, Guangzhou, and plans to fully cap the project this year, local media reported on Feb 21.
The center consists of eight R&D buildings, one hotel, one cooling tower and two underground floors. Upon its completion, it can accommodate about 5,000 employees.
The project's renovation works have basically been completed, and its supporting projects are either undergoing accelerated construction or have been completed.
For instance, the construction of the Huaqiao Sugar Factory road network project was accelerated; while the newly built pocket park at the bottom of Jinshazhou Bridge on Songzhou Street has opened to the public.
In addition, a series of infrastructure projects such as Jurong Station of Metro Line 12, Luochongwei Station of Line 13 and Chenxiang Bridge are making progresses.
Baiyun plans to build an innovation highland for the intelligent network and new energy vehicle industries with Huawei R&D center as its core. The district aims to gather more leading enterprises from upstream and downstream industries and help develop the area.
The center started construction in September 2021 and is expected to be put into operation in 2024. Its basement section was topped off last year as scheduled, and the above-ground structure is planned to be fully capped in May 2023.
