The 1.5-km tunnel lying under Baiyun Avenue started trial operation on March 25.

By utilizing the tunnel, it will only take drivers two minutes to get from the Guangzhou Gymnasium to the Baiyun Mountain Scenic Area.

The tunnel's main line has a total length of 1,317 meters and features eight dual lanes. It is classified as an urban trunk road, with a designated speed of 60 kilometer per hour.

Residents now can travel to Baiyun Mountain via the tunnel instead of passing through Baiyun Avenue, effectively relieving the traffic congestion in Baiyun New City.
