Transportation Hub
As the supporting area of the international aviation hub constructed by Guangzhou and the railway logistics hub of the nodal cities included in the Belt and Road Initiative, Baiyun district has built itself into a multi-modal logistic hub integrating air, railway, land and water transportation, providing mutual access within one hour in the Pearl River Delta Economic Zone.
Baiyun, as a transport hub, has the Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, and covering more than half of the planned total area of the Guangzhou Airport Economic Demonstration Zone. Based on its aviation sector, the district has set up an air economic corridor, connecting multiple cities and regions at home and abroad.
Baiyun incorporates the biggest marshalling yard in the southern part of China. Guangzhou (Datian) railway container center station in the district will be constructed into the largest comprehensive freight hub in Guangzhou. Dalang railway freight center has opened a series of domestic intercity trains, China-Europe freight trains and China-South Asia freight trains, forming an important logistics channel connecting railway trade between Asia, Europe and Africa.
Baiyun is reachable by the following railway lines: the Beijing-Guangzhou High-speed Railway, Guangzhou-Zhuhai High-speed Railway, Wuhan-Guangzhou High-speed Railway and the northeast ring railway for freight trains (under construction), three intercity railways of the Guangzhou-Qingyuan Intercity Railway, Guangzhou-Shenzhen Intercity Railway and Guangzhou–Foshan Circular Intercity Railway, and 12 urban highways, expressways and national highways, including the Guangzhou-Qingyuan Expressway, Guangzhou Airport Expressway, Beijing-Zhuhai Expressway, the Ring Expressway in Guanghzou, Guangzhou 2nd Ring Expressway, Hua'nan Highway, Guangzhou-Conghua Highway, Guangzhou-Huadu Highway, as well as No 105, 106 and 107 national highways.
As of the end of 2020, Baiyun had built 34 stations along nine metro lines. Guangzhou Metro Line 6 and 14 traverse the district from east to west, while Line 2, 3 and the north extension section of Line 8 run from north to south. The three lines meet at Jiahe Wanggang Metro Station with their operation mileage extending for 88.5 kilometers.
