Baiyun Railway Station's west area is planned to be developed as a new and bustling hub for the sector, local media outlets reported on Aug 4.

What's more, it will also seek to become a high-quality fashion shopping precinct in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Baiyun district is already an established retail area and a magnet for the fashion sector in Guangzhou. Clusters have been formed by the clothing and apparel, beauty and cosmetics and leather goods industries.

The looming transformation of the station's west area comes in the wake of its inclusion in the Luochongwei area. This is one of the four key urban renewal areas that are being developed by the Guangdong capital.

The area will concentrate on enhancing the urban living environment and resolving various existing transport issues.

The focus will be on the planning and design of urban public spaces, reasonable functional layouts and land allocation, complete public service support, and the creation of an efficient urban functional system.
