An expressway connecting Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport and Guangzhou North Station is expected to be operational by 2025, local media outlets reported on Oct 12.

This expressway is designed to reduce the travel time between the two locations to just 15 minutes, compared to the previous 30 minutes or more.

The project starts at the intersection of Gongye Avenue and Xinjie Avenue, and ends at the Guangzhou-Huadu Expressway.

It will be constructed according to urban expressway standards, with a total length of approximately 3.4 kilometers. It will also feature six lanes in each direction.

The project is divided into two sections: the non-rail section and the rail section. The non-rail section began construction in November 2021, while construction on the rail section commenced in September.

Construction on the project's pile foundation is currently underway. The plan is to complete the entire non-rail section in parallel with the rail section, so that both parts of this project will be completed by 2025.

Once completed, this expressway will greatly enhance Guangzhou's transportation efficiency, thus promoting economic development and tourism.
