Lingnan Cantonese Opera Fair enthralls crowds in Baiyun

The Lingnan Cantonese Opera Fair opened in Beicun village, Baiyun district, Guangzhou on Nov 12.
Beicun village has an inseparable relationship with the shining pearl of Lingnan art, Cantonese Opera. Lan Gui, the initiator of the Barwo Guild - a vital association for Cantonese Opera artists - was born in this village.
At the fair, 11 squares featuring local folk artists, Cantonese Opera performers, and kindergarteners paraded through the ancient architectural complex of bookstores, ancestral halls, and village conventions.

The Cantonese Opera Culture Square in Beicun village was also set up with interactive booths during the event, including Cantonese Opera mask painting, experiences of putting on makeup and traditional costumes, instruction on opera singing and body movement, as well as cultural creative products.
