On April 22, Guangzhou's Baiyun district held a fish-release ceremony for the rice-fish symbiosis project at Renhe Park Rice-fish Symbiosis Demonstration Base, symbolizing the integration of rice cultivation with fish farming.
This year, the Renhe Park demonstration base cultivated a unique variety of rice - the Meixiangzhan No 2. This rice, belonging to the Guangdong silk seedling rice category, is renowned for its high quality. Throughout the entire cultivation process, it was cultivated without the use of pesticides or fertilizers, further enhancing its quality and resulting in rice with improved taste and heightened nutritional value.
At the same time, the demonstration base also introduced high-quality fish species such as the Hefangji No 2. These fish not only thrive in the rice-fish symbiotic farming environment but also offer delicious meat. The rice-fish symbiosis model is expected to yield a synergistic effect, maximizing ecological, social, and economic benefits.
The rice-fish symbiosis model represents an eco-friendly agricultural practice involving rice cultivation on land and fish farming in water bodies. In this approach, fish act as natural predators, consuming pests' larvae and adults while also contributing to water quality improvement. This model enhances the biodiversity of farmlands and strengthens the entire system's resistance to pests and diseases.
The demonstration base will serve as an educational platform, attracting visitors to experience and understand the joy of technological eco-friendly agricultural production, emphasizing the importance of ecological balance and sustainable development.
