Dragon Boat Festival celebrations foster cultural exchange in Baiyun
In Junhe Street, Shima village, 20 traditional dragons assembled, upholding a century-old bond of friendship. Dragon boats from Shima, Yahu, Banghu, and Gaozeng villages united for a family reunion and spirited races.
The dragon boats courageously advanced on the water, attracting over 1,000 residents to cheer on the boat teams. Shima village's dragon boat races had a glorious history in the 1980s, winning numerous awards at city and district-level competitions. Today, they have set sail once again, achieving accolades like the second prize at the Guangzhou International Dragon Boat Invitation.

In Shijing Street, the Qingfeng Alliance hosted a dragon boat event to celebrate the Dragon Boat Festival. Before the dragon boat procession, local villagers adorned the boats with red decorations, praying for national prosperity and favorable weather. A ceremony involving the selection of green crops symbolized a bountiful harvest and safety.
The dragon boat races attracted residents and villagers from neighboring communities, fostering bonds and emphasizing the importance of preserving dragon boat culture, creating an atmosphere of tradition and unity.
