Longgang village has a long history of wampee cultivation, producing high-quality chicken heart wampees known for their small core, tender flesh, freshness, and juiciness, which are beloved by consumers. Due to an increase in rainy weather, this year's total yield is expected to be halved, potentially leading to a rise in market prices.
Longgang village has a wampee cultivation area exceeding 1500 mu (100 hectares), with the ripening period typically lasting from June to July each year. In 2020, the village's wampees were awarded the national-level title of Excellent New Agricultural Product, and in 2024 they received a national green food certification.
Longgang village is preparing to host the 7th Wampee Festival scheduled at the end of June. During the festival, it will collaborate with the Baiyun Supply and Marketing Cooperative to introduce several new wampee dishes and offer a variety of comprehensive wampee banquet sets at surrounding farmhouses.
This will allow people to taste fresh fruit, various specially-crafted delicacies, and beverages, showcasing the diverse culinary uses of wampees.
