Recently, the upgrading project at the Guangzhou Sports Arena is in progress.

The initiative was initiated in March of this year, and it is currently at 85 percent completion, with an anticipated full completion date of October this year.

The renovation has preserved the original design, primarily focusing on meeting functional requirements. The renovation plan adheres to the design philosophy of simplicity, safety, and excellence, incorporating intelligent and barrier-free design.

Many barrier-free facilities and signs have been added inside Hall 1 of the Guangzhou Sports Arena, including barrier-free inquiry screens and smart service stations, providing services such as barrier-free maps and travel guidance for people with disabilities.

The renovation project has also introduced smart venue enhancement projects, such as a 3D visual gate system, AR tour navigation system, and interactive light and shadow system, enhancing the experience for both spectators and athletes.

As a modern, comprehensive, multi-functional sports facility, the Guangzhou Sports Arena will host events such as the Women's U18 Volleyball and Trampoline events of the 15th National Games next year, as well as the Wheelchair Basketball events of the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities.
