Baiyun district has reported robust economic performance for the first half of 2024, with a GDP of 136.36 billion yuan ($18.86 billion), marking a 6.3 percent year-on-year increase.

The total output value of agriculture, forestry, farming, and fishery reached 3.28 billion yuan, up by 5.3 percent year-on-year. Vegetable production saw a 5.5 percent increase in output and a 6 percent rise in value, while the fishery sector experienced a significant 23.5 percent growth.

The total output value of the industry sector increased by 3.8 percent. The cosmetics manufacturing sector achieved an output value of 7.14 billion yuan, up by 9.2 percent, and the aviation-related industrial sector reached 2.14 billion yuan, a remarkable 67.3 percent increase.

In the aviation sector, total cargo and passenger turnover of 11.47 billion metric-ton-kilometers increased by 31.9 percent.

In the consumer market, total retail sales of consumer goods reached 61.11 billion yuan, a 1.1 percent year-on-year increase.

The income of the service sector increased by 11.7 percent year-on-year from January to May, and the travel agency and related services industry increased by 67.5 percent.

Fixed asset investment exceeded 61 billion yuan, up by 2.1 percent year-on-year. Industrial investment surged by 51.2 percent, and construction and installation engineering investment grew by 24.4 percent.
