Baiyun hosted 1st harvest carnival to boost rural tourism
Baiyun district in Guangzhou hosted its first Golden Harvest Carnival and Rice Harvest Ceremony in Baishan village, Taihe town on Aug 2 to boost rural tourism.
Baishan village, covering an area of 300 mu (20 hectares), has transformed from an infertile area to a thriving agricultural hub. The village now boasts a yield of 250 kilograms per mu, thanks to land protection and improvement efforts. The village is part of Guangzhou's first batch of "Top 10 Beautiful Villages" and the core area of the "Baiyun Deep Poetry and Painting Maofeng" new rural demonstration belt.
The harvest carnival attracted numerous visitors, offering a blend of rock, folk, electronic, and classic music performances. Local businesses benefited from the increased traffic, with some selling over 40 Taihe roast chickens and 40 kilograms of crayfish each night.
The event also provided 20 public stalls for villagers, boosting their income and promoting integration of local culture, tourism, and commerce. Future plans include water-splashing parties and fish-catching activities to attract more tourists.
Baishan village is a model for rural revitalization and an eco-friendly leisure tourism destination. It aims to enhance its living environment, introduce industrial projects, and support farmers through collaborative models.
