Guangzhou Baiyun Urban Construction Investment and Development Group and Sam's Shanghai Investment have signed an agreement to establish a new Sam's Club in Baiyun district on Aug 5.

The store is expected to be located in the northern expansion area of the Design Capital of Guangzhou, near the intersection of Wanggang Avenue and metro lines 2, 3, and 14.

Sam's Club, a high-end warehouse membership store under Walmart, since entering the Chinese market in 1996, its sales in China have reached 80 billion yuan ($11.19 billion) in 2023.

The new store in Baiyun is set to be the first Sam's Club in the district, with a total investment of approximately 260 million yuan. The project anticipates covering an area of about 45,000 square meters, with a total construction area of 48,000 sq m. It is set to feature an above-ground warehouse-style membership store and an underground parking facility. Construction is set to begin in October this year, with the store expected to open in 2026.

The addition of Sam's Club is expected to enhance Baiyun's mid-to-high-end consumption offerings, meeting the needs of residents and boosting commercial development and competitiveness.
