Guangzhou-Huadu Intercity Line reaches connectivity milestones
The Guangzhou-Huadu Intercity Line has made significant progress, ushering in a new era in the region's transportation development. The project has completed the longest single-line section from Baiyun City Center to Baifang Shield Shaft, and the right-line shield tunnel from Jingbai Shield Shaft to Baiyun Dongping has begun, achieving a maximum depth of 210 meters.
The Guangzhou-Huadu Intercity Line begins at Guangzhou East Station on Line 18 and runs northward through Jingxi Road, Baiyun Dongping, Baiyun City Center, and connecting to Fangshi, Fenghuang South Road, and Ma'anshan Park before terminating at Huacheng Street Station in Huadu. The line, which includes seven new stations, is 39.6 kilometers long and has a design speed of 160 km per hour.
Currently, 30 percent of the Guangzhou-Huadu Intercity Line's civil engineering work is finished. All seven stations are being built; two are in the preparatory stages and five are undergoing civil engineering work. Ten shield machines are currently operational, and construction of the airport vehicle depot is underway.
Upon completion, the Guangzhou-Huadu Intercity Line will connect with the operational Metro Line 18 and the under-construction extension, creating a vital north-south artery and becoming a key route in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
