Cat-themed lantern carnival lights up Guangzhou's Yuntai Garden
From Sept 12 to Nov 2, Yuntai Garden in Baiyun Mountain is set to host the "Roaming Cat Wonderland Carnival", a unique event that merges traditional craftsmanship with popular Chinese animation IPs. This carnival promises an enchanting experience for visitors, featuring numerous cat-themed lanterns and a variety of engaging activities.
The carnival showcases over 105 cat-shaped lanterns, each meticulously crafted using traditional techniques such as frame-making and paper-pasting. These lanterns bring to life beloved characters from popular Chinese animations like When History Meows and Juju Miao. The event marks the first time these animated characters have been integrated with national intangible cultural heritage lanterns, creating a vibrant atmosphere.
Visitors can explore the "Fantasy Garden", a section of Yuntai Garden transformed into a magical forest. Here, dynamic lanterns depicting fireflies, dragonflies, butterflies, mantises, and cicadas interact with the natural surroundings, enhanced by sound effects like cicada chirps. This immersive environment offers countless photo opportunities, perfect for social media enthusiasts.
In addition to the lantern displays, the carnival features themed performances, parades, magic shows, and clown acts. A laser show, cultural and creative markets, and food stalls enrich the night-time experience, providing a fresh take on Guangzhou's night economy.
