The results of the "2024 China Small and Medium-sized Cities High-Quality Development Index Research" were released on Sept 20. It featured several important lists, including the "2024 Top 100 Counties and Cities in Comprehensive Strength" and the "2024 Top 100 Districts in Comprehensive Strength". Baiyun district has once again made an appearance in these esteemed rankings.

The district secured 22nd place among the "2024 Top 100 Districts in Comprehensive Strength", 54th place among the "2024 Top 100 Districts in Green Development", 18th place among the "2024 Top 100 Districts in Investment Potential", 30th place among the "2024 Top 100 Districts in Technological Innovation", and 14th place among the "2024 Top 100 Districts in New Urbanization Quality".

Baiyun is leveraging its "Four Major Hubs" to accelerate the development of modern "Six Major Trillion-Level + Six Major Billion-Level" industrial clusters. It aims to become a model for port-industry-city integrated development, an international trade center, and a hub for urban technological innovation and manufacturing.

Baiyun's GDP reached 136.36 billion yuan ($19.24 billion) in the first half of 2024, a 6.3-percent year-on-year growth. It has been listed among the top 100 districts in comprehensive strength and investment potential for the past seven years. It is the only district in Guangzhou to have been recognized as a "Leading Smart City in China" for four consecutive years.
