Record-breaking National Day holiday boosts tourism in Baiyun

The National Day holiday in Baiyun district saw an unprecedented surge in tourism, with over 1.6 million visitors flocking to various attractions, marking a 126 percent increase compared to the previous year. This influx of tourists generated a total cultural and tourism consumption exceeding 1.2 billion yuan ($170 million), setting a new record for recent years.

Baiyun Mountain Scenic Area emerged as the most popular destination, welcoming over 880,000 visitors, a 69 percent increase from last year. Maofeng Mountain Scenic Area also saw significant activity, hosting events such as forest concerts and lion dance competitions, attracting over 90,000 visitors, a 209 percent year-on-year increase.

Guangzhou Children's Park offered a series of events, drawing in more than 298,000 visitors, a 154 percent increase. Baiyun Lake Park hosted the Guangzhou Baiyun-Longyan Changting Cultural Festival, featuring local customs, specialties, and interactive games, attracting approximately 271,000 visitors, a 215.6 percent increase.

Rural tourism spots like Renhe Garden and Fenghua Garden also saw a surge in visitors, with thousands exploring Baiyun's countryside. The newly opened Xueshan Tongde Commercial Plaza hosted the Baiyun Cultural and Art Festival, attracting around 200,000 visitors.

The main activities were hosted at PASO Plaza, inviting citizens and tourists to explore Baiyun's rich intangible cultural heritage. Social media influencers also visited vital historical sites, further promoting Baiyun's cultural and tourism appeal.
