Construction starts of Guangzhou Xingfa Plaza Phase II
The groundbreaking ceremony for the Guangzhou Xingfa Plaza Meiwan Phase II project was held – marking a milestone in the transformation of this historic commercial hub.
Established in 1994, Xingfa Plaza in Xingfa North Road – in Baiyun district of Guangzhou, capital of South China's Guangdong Province – has been a cornerstone of China's cosmetics wholesale market.
It's been home to renowned brands including Adolph, Danz, Perfect Diary and Xuelei over the past three decades.
As urban development progresses, the existing infrastructure was deemed to be outdated and no longer fitted in with the city's planning and functional requirements.
On Sept 8, the demolition and renovation of Xingfa Plaza Phase II began, with 947 merchants smoothly relocated to nearby business sites.
The new Xingfa Plaza Meiwan Phase II project, covering an area of 100,000 square meters, is scheduled for completion and operation within two years.
It's part of the broader urban renewal initiative in Sanyuanli village, leveraging the strong industrial background of Baiyun. The project will integrate retail, exhibitions, dining, wellness, entertainment, offices and hotels, also offering a full-time cosmetics expo.
The urban renewal of Sanyuanli village – adjacent to the project – is understood to be progressing steadily, with over 94 percent of villagers consenting to the redevelopment.
What's more, the detailed planning for the Guangzhou Railway Station area – including Sanyuanli village – has been approved, marking it as one of the first projects to complete a regulatory review under the new urban village renovation model.
