Updated : October 17, 2024

The construction of the world's largest single airport terminal, the T3 Terminal at Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, has reached over 70 percent completion.

The T3 Terminal, a key project in the third phase of the airport's expansion, features a unique "Flower of Guangzhou" design. The terminal spans 970 meters from north to south and 592 meters from east to west. Its metal roof, composed of eight "petals", showcases advanced construction techniques that enhance both aesthetics and functionality.

Currently, the main structure, steel framework, and secondary structures of the terminal are complete. Roofing and curtain wall installations are in their final stages, while mechanical, electrical, and interior finishing works are progressing rapidly. The project employs over 4,000 workers, with peak periods seeing up to 7,000 personnel on-site.

The T3 Terminal is designed to improve operational efficiency and passenger experience. It will integrate various transportation modes, including high-speed rail, intercity trains, and metro lines, creating a comprehensive transportation hub. The terminal aims to handle 120 million passengers and 3.8 million metric tons of cargo annually, with future expansions increasing capacity to 140 million passengers and 6 million tons of cargo. The T3 Terminal is expected to be operational by the end of next year, promising to set new standards in airport design and functionality.
