On March 1, the Guangzhou Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Promotion Regulations (hereinafter referred to as the "Regulations") were implemented. These are the first of their kind in the country and were made to protect the environment for youth innovation and entrepreneurship through local legislation.

In 2022, the total import and export value of Guangzhou's foreign trade reached 1.09 trillion yuan ($160 billion), an increase of 1.1 percent when compared to the same period from the previous year.
Of Guangzhou's total number of State-owned enterprises, 83 are time-honored State-owned enterprises. Among them, there are 29 time-honored Chinese brands, accounting for 83 percent of the city's total and 51 percent of Guangdong province's total.
