On June 30, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS) received approval from Guangzhou Education Bureau to establish its first international school in the city's Baiyun district.
To promote traditional Chinese culture, the foreign affairs office of the Guangzhou municipal government organized an international culture communication event for expats to visit Qixi in Guangzhou, where participants made scented sachets and incense on June 11.
Guangzhou Multilingual Public Service Hotline 960169 was created in July 2019 to provide interpretation service for expats, residents, public departments and institutions, companies and those in need of cross-culture communication.
For non-Guangzhou household registration holders who pass away in Guangzhou administrative jurisdiction after Sept 28, 2016 and whose remains are cremated in the funeral service organizations in the jurisdiction, their family member or assignee can apply for reduction or exemption of the following six basic service fees, up to a maximum reduction of RMB 1,330.
Guangzhou has a well-developed health care network, with general and specialized hospitals in every administrative district of the city. Foreign nationals can go to the hospital by themselves.
Guangzhou boasts a long history of religion. The world's top five religions, Buddhism, Taoism, Islamism, Catholicism, and Christianity, all have a presence here.
