On Feb 19,Nansha Maritime Department organized a new energy electric boat,Puffer, sailing safety seminar to discuss the new topic of new energy ship supervision.

Puffer, the world's first 1,000-tonne inland new energy electric boat, has settled in the Nansha Free Trade Zone and will be officially put into operation in April this year, for the primary purpose of carrying bulk coal. Its main routes from Nansha to Zengcheng.

Puffer was invested and researched by Guangzhou Development Ruihua New Energy Electric Boat Co., Ltd., and built by Guangzhou Shipyard International Co., Ltd., and is the world's first 1000-ton pure battery-powered heavy-duty ship.

Most inland river transport vessels have issues such as old age, poor technical condition, low production efficiency, high energy consumption, serious pollution, and excessive noise.

Puffer has achieved many breakthroughs and innovations. It takes high-performance lithium battery as the power source for the entire ship. It also breaks through the traditional propeller propulsion mode of inland river large transport vessels, and adopts a straight wing rudder propeller propulsion system to achieve better comprehensive performance, energy saving and environmental protection.
