Puzhou Fort in Guangzhou's Nansha district has been scheduled to reopen to the public in the beginning of June after six months of upgrading and renovation.

Puzhou Fort was the first line of defense after Humen Fortress and has witnessed the combat of Chinese forces against foreign invaders.

A 25-meter-long tunnel in the fort, which was used for the transportation of supplies like materials and shells, has been decorated with LED lights, turning the tunnel into an exhibition for the fort's history.

Staff members of Puzhou Fort said that the trail was the first of its kind in Guangzhou to use LED lights to showcase the charm of the cultural relics without causing any damage to the historic site. The tunnel will also be used to display the socio-economic development achievements of Nansha district in the future.
