A total of 352 players participated in the first leg of the tournament, an increase of more than 50 percent compared to last year's.
The decision to hold the competition in Nansha was due to its favorable climate, environmental conditions, and extensive experience in hosting tournaments," stated Xu Qingsheng, head referee of the competition.
In 2023, Nansha hosted a range of large-scale international and domestic tennis competitions, including the ATP Guangzhou Nansha International Tennis Challenge, WTA Guangzhou International Women's Tennis Open, and China Junior Tennis Tour.
Today, Nansha International Tennis Centre offers a range of sophisticated facilities and services. In early 2024, junior tennis training teams from mainland and Hong Kong selected this venue for their winter training programs. Additionally, the Junta International Tennis Academy was established in Nansha. The tennis industry in the district is maturing into a more international, professional, and industrialized sector.
