Guangzhou's Nansha district held a conference on high-quality development on March 4, during which the district's blueprint for 2024 was announced.

Nansha aims to achieve a regional GDP growth rate of over seven percent in 2024 by further boosting scientific and technological innovation, helping enterprises to accelerate independent innovation, promoting the high-value-added end of the industrial chain, and deepening reform and opening-up.

To achieve its goal of high-quality development, the district will accelerate the construction of Nansha Science City to gather high-level talent in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and build a modern industrial system as a way to develop its real economy.

The district will focus on its two pillar industries, new energy automobile base and high-end marine equipment. It will strengthen five strategic new industries - artificial intelligence, semiconductors, biomedicine, new energy storage and commercial spaceflight. In addition, it will make preparation for the development of two future industries, including the deep sea field.

It will also expand investment and promote consumption for a broader market and create a first-class business environment, improve its service mechanism, and offer more solid policy support.

Lastly, it will deepen comprehensive cooperation between Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, advance the free trade agreement strategy to bring about institutional opening-up, and construct a high-standard economic zone.
