Greening initiatives propel Nansha towards sustainable development

The greening and coverage rates of Guangzhou's Nansha district have reached 38.82 percent and 40.24 percent, respectively, with the per capita park green space area rising to 25.9 square meters, all ranking at the forefront of Guangzhou. Looking forward to 2024, Nansha is poised to further expand its green space and enhance its forestation efforts.

One significant initiative is the development of the Dynamic Water Bank Demonstration Site along the Jiaomen River, slated for completion and operation by 2024.

Strategically positioned near Nansha Innovation Bay, this project leverages the natural advantages of the Jiaomen River, with the aim of expanding green spaces. Currently, enhancements to pedestrian bridges and surrounding facilities will be synchronized with the construction, integrating multicultural elements such as light diets and cultural salons.

In line with its ambition to become a pioneer demonstration zone for Guangzhou's transformation into a garden city, Nansha is intensifying efforts to increase green space coverage. This includes the construction of 10 pocket parks and three community parks, covering 80.6 percent of the service radius.

Furthermore, Nansha is committed to promoting environmental conservation and advancing green development in Guangdong by improving its forests and wetland ecological environment. These concerted efforts underscore Nansha's dedication to sustainable growth and environmental stewardship.
