On May 20, Nansha district held a ceremony near the Juxing Bridge in Innovation Bay to announce the district's flower as the Chinese rose and the district's tree as the bald cypress.
The Chinese rose, often referred to as the "Queen of Flowers", holds great significance in the hearts of citizens for its vibrant colors and rich fragrance. In traditional Chinese culture, the Chinese rose symbolizes values of perseverance, peace, and eternal love. Nansha has established the Heart Garden, featuring an expanse of 3,000 square meters dedicated to various unique varieties of Chinese roses. This establishment stands as the premier spot for the appreciation of Chinese roses in Nansha.

The bald cypress, a typical coniferous tree adaptable to both wet and dry conditions, exhibits an elegant form with beautiful foliage that transitions to a bronze hue in the autumn, showcasing Nansha's distinctive Lingnan garden and water town culture. Bald cypresses can be found in Jiaomen Park, Binhai Park, adding to the district's landscape along with the backdrop of blue skies, white clouds, and coastal greenways.

By the end of 2023, Nansha achieved a green space rate of 38.87 percent, a greening coverage rate of 40.5 percent, and a per capita park green space area of 23.99 sq m. Nansha has been honored with various accolades, including the "Global Most Livable City Gold Award" and the national-level "Ecological Civilization Construction Demonstration Zone".
