Nansha kicks off 2026 with cultural, tourism, sports integration

Guangzhou's Nansha district welcomed a booming start to 2026, receiving over 1.2 million tourist visits during the New Year holiday, representing a year-on-year increase of more than 41 percent.

A series of high-caliber events, including a Mayday concert, a New Year's Eve electronic music festival, and the 44th Guangdong-Hong Kong Cup football match, have been held at the Greater Bay Area Cultural and Sports Center, hailed as the "Heart of the Bay Area", consistently igniting public enthusiasm.

Notably, the 44th Guangdong-Hong Kong Cup football match marked the first time in Nansha, earning the venue widespread praise for its world-class facilities.

The district is now promoting high-quality development by integrating culture, tourism, and sports, aiming to become a model district for performances and sporting events. Grassroots activities are equally colorful, with basketball leagues, football matches, flower deity parades, cruise routes, and the upcoming Greater Bay Area Lantern Festival creating a multi-layered cultural and tourism landscape. Service guarantees have been continuously optimized, with improved traffic management and attention to detail enhancing the visitor experience.

Through this series of large-scale events, Nansha is refining its urban functions and accelerating its journey towards becoming a hub for cultural, tourism, and sports activities in the Greater Bay Area.
