Guangzhou financial city releases blueprints for next 5 years
The industrial development plan for the Guangzhou International Financial City was launched at a news briefing on Feb 17. The plan for the financial city that is based in Tianhe district will take place during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25).
It put forward for the first time to focus on building the financial city into an international comprehensive financial center, a leading area for digital economy integration and innovation, and a vitality model along the Pearl River.
By the end of 2025, a modern industrial financial system, new-generation information technology, modern commerce and trade, high-end professional services, and emerging industries will be formed in the financial city.

Its regional GDP is projected to reach 70 billion yuan ($11.06 billion), while the added value of its financial industry is expected to be 25 billion yuan, accounting for about one third of the GDP. The operation revenue of the software and information technology services will exceed 30 billion yuan.
A total of 300 enterprises above designated size will be newly added in the financial city from 2021 to 2022, and eight to 10 buildings with tax revenue of over 100 million yuan will also be built.
The financial city will push forward the construction of 116 major projects with a total investment of over 180 billion yuan.
In addition, it will comprehensively enhance the resource allocation capacity and high-end talent attraction while focusing on building a livable, green, resilient, smart, and cultural city.
