Epic drama brings Tianhe people back to Nanyue Kingdom
The epic drama King of Nanyue is being staged at the No 13 Theater of the Guangzhou Drama Art Center in Tianhe district from April 8 to 17.
It tells the story of Zhao Tuo, who was a Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC) general that later established the Nanyue Kingdom. Through Zhao's story, it also shows the magnificent scope of history and the complex blend of life in this period.

The drama premiered in 2006. It was a nominated play for the 2006-07 National Stage Art Quality Projects, won outstanding play for the 2007-10 Golden Lion Awards for Drama, and was named a fifth National Outstanding Drama.
It was staged at the Hungarian State Opera House on April 26, 2017, winning warm praise from audiences.
"What impressed me most was the King's mother, who was willing to part with her long-lost son for the sake of the country's well-being," said one of the attendees Kiss Anikó.
Another attendee Erzsebet Andó was fascinated by the personality of the King. "He is a king of leadership and humane care, strong and decisive. He made me interested in Guangzhou. I must visit the place if I have the chance," Andó said.
