New orthopedics hospital to be built in Tianhe
The survey and design of the Changxing branch of the Guangdong Academy of Orthopedics recently started the bidding process. The branch is planned to settle in the Changxing sub-district of Guangzhou's Tianhe district.
The new branch aims to build a platform for medical innovation and transformation, improve Tianhe's competitiveness in health science and technology, and help Guangzhou become a medical and health center, as well as a medical innovation and R&D center within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
The branch will be 1.5 kilometers away from the South China National Botanical Garden, and be adjacent to South China Agricultural University. Located near the Guangzhou Ring Expressway, the South China Express, and the Guangzhou-Shantou Highway, it will boast convenient transportation.
It is designed to have two campuses. The northern campus will be a medical research center, and will focus on the construction model: "one discipline, one laboratory, and five centers". The southern campus will be composed of an orthopedic hospital and an achievement transformation center, providing basic medical services and public health services for residents within the jurisdiction of Changxing sub-district.
The orthopedic hospital in the southern campus will have a total of 300 beds, and cover a combined floor area of 51,384 square meters, of which 29,502 sq m will be above the ground.
