A groundbreaking ceremony was held for the southern campus project of the Guangdong Orthopedics Academy on May 10. It will be jointly constructed by the Tianhe district government and the Third Affiliated Hospital of Southern Medical University.

With its northern campus put into use in August 2022, and construction starting on its southern campus, the Guangdong Orthopedics Academy is being built into a modern orthopedic medical research and development institution that integrates medical treatment, medical research, and achievement transformation.

The southern campus is positioned as an orthopedic hospital and an achievement transformation center. It will be equipped with 300 beds and have a combined floor area of nearly 48,800 square meters. A public community health service center that covers an area of 3,000 sq m will also be built.

To date, Tianhe has a total of 972 health and medical institutions, ranking among the highest in Guangzhou. It won the first place in China's top 100 counties with medical services in 2020.
