Tianhe issues development plan for public hospitals
Tianhe district of Guangzhou issued an action plan on Feb 21 to promote the high-quality development of public hospitals and further improve the quality and efficiency of medical services in the district.
According to the plan, the district is set to focus on allocating medical resources in the eastern and northern parts of Tianhe. It will advance the construction of key medical projects like the Sun Yat-sen University Medical Oncology Scientific Center, the Guangdong Orthopedics Academy, and the Zhuji branch of the Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University.

Construction of health service centers in the district's Longdong, Changxing, and Zhuji neighborhoods is also planned to be promoted.
Besides, Tianhe is scheduled to boost the pilot construction of urban medical groups to optimize the allocation of medical resources further.
It will build the "one center, one feature" brand for community medical service centers, focusing on features like TCM rehabilitation, stomatology, endocrinology, maternal and child health care, and chronic disease follow-up clinics.
The district will explore new diagnosis and treatment models, such as joint diagnosis and treatment for tumors and cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases.

The plan also encourages public hospitals to set up intra-day wards and therapeutic centers and increase the proportion of day surgery to elective operations, hence shortening patients' waiting time for hospitalization and surgery.
Tianhe is scheduled to promote the development of "Internet + health care,” building a digital community-level medical and health care service system. The construction of smart hospitals is also poised to be advanced in the district to promote information sharing.
