Shooting events end in Tianhe with 29 gold medals awarded
The shooting events of the National Games for Persons with Disabilities and the 9th National Special Olympic Games concluded at the Guangdong Range Shooting Range Hall in Tianhe on Dec 3. Sichuan's Gao Jianxiong claimed the final gold in the R5 - Mixed 10m Air Rifle Prone SH2 event.
The events, which kicked off on Nov 29 in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, drew 82 athletes from 10 national teams. Multiple shooters broke national and world records, with Gao Jianxiong in particular earning several gold medals and breaking a number of national records.
Venue adjustments for accessibility included added ramps, barrier-free restrooms, and accessible pathways. Medical support was provided by two designated hospitals and four on-site service stations. Volunteers worked diligently to assist the athletes and approximately 1,100 spectators.
