World's first AI tourism-retail capsules launched in Guiyang

The world's first embodied intelligent tourism-retail space capsules were launched on Dec 31 in Guiyang, with 10 robotic capsules simultaneously unveiled across 10 iconic landmarks in Guiyang and Gui'an New Area, offering residents and visitors an innovative fusion of technology, culture, and tourism.

These robotic capsules have been permanently deployed at Guiyang Garland Square, Qingyun Road Pedestrian Street, AYDC Public Art Center, Qingyan Ancient Town, Huaxi Shizi Street, Gui'an New Area Civic Center, Southwest Nationalities Food Square, Qianlingshan Park, China Mobile's headquarters in Guizhou, and China Mobile Guizhou Hub Building.

Across these diverse settings, technology blends seamlessly into daily life. At Garland Square, an AI-powered robot serves freshly brewed, customized coffee. In Qingyan Ancient Town, robotic guides provide friendly voice assistance to tourists, while visitors to Qianlingshan Park can access warm drinks during their morning exercise.

The project is jointly promoted by China Mobile Group Guizhou Co and Beijing Galbot Co, aiming to drive the expansion of embodied AI applications across China and enhance the country's influence in the global AI industry.

Each deployed capsule requires only 16 square meters of space and is operated by Beijing Galbot Co's self-developed "Galbot" robot, serving as a fully autonomous retail assistant that independently handles proactive greetings, multilingual interactions, product recommendations, order placement and payments, precise item retrieval, and face-to-face deliveries.

It also supports 24/7 autonomous operation, self-charging, remote scheduling, and can be customized to reflect the local cultural characteristics of Guizhou province.
