Five years on: Yunyan promotes high-quality development during 14th Five-Year Plan

Yunyan district's GDP exceeded 100 billion yuan ($14.31 billion) during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25), with a permanent population of 1.18 million and recognition as a national "Top 100 High-quality Development Zone".

In line with the principle of promoting industry, the Guizhou Yunyan Economic Development Zone was approved, and Yunyan Industrial Park was established. Standardized factory buildings covering 361,100 square meters were built, and the average annual growth rate of the added value of enterprises above the designated size was 6.79 percent.

The data annotation industry has seen rapid growth, with the integrated development of big data and the real economy ranking among the province's top tiers for four consecutive years.

Zhonghua Road business district has ranked among the "top 40 national business districts" for two consecutive years, with the number of tourists received, total tourism revenue, and overnight tourists increasing by 9.83 percent, 4.67 percent, and 22.23 percent year-on-year, respectively. It has also been recognized as a "top 100 district for comprehensive tourism strength" for five consecutive years.

The total number of talents in Yunyan district has exceeded 310,000, ranking among the province's top performers. Among enterprises above the designated size, the share of those with R&D activities has remained the highest in the city for three consecutive years. Yunyan has also been named one of the "top 100 national science and technology innovation zones" for seven straight years.

Yunyan's ecological protection saw significant progress, with days of excellent air quality reaching 99.2 percent. The water quality compliance rate, domestic waste transfer rate, and harmless treatment rate have all reached 100 percent, and the urban green space coverage rate has exceeded 47.97 percent.
