The Chinese tropical costal city Sanya kicked off a Russian culture week on Dec 9 to enhance Hainan province's exchanges and communication with Belt and Road countries, as well as celebrate the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Russia.
In addition to the opening ceremony, which was studded with classic Russian folk songs and dances, the event also features a photograph exhibition, an oil painting show, and Russian movie screenings.
In recent years, Hainan has been attaching great importance to communications with Russia in all fields. The tropical Chinese island has particularly promoted exchanges and cooperation with Russia in culture and art.
Next year, the South China province is scheduled to hold cultural promotion activities in Russia, enhance strategic cooperation between the Hainan Island International Film Festival and the Moscow International Film Festival, as well as strengthen in-depth cultural cooperation with Russia by teaming with the Russian Ministry of Culture and its leading news agency TASS.
