The 2020 BMW Hood to Coast China-Hainan relay will be held here on December 12, the Organizing Committee announced Tuesday.
The 163.8-kilometer race runs form Yanoda Rainforest Cultural Tourism Zone to Yalong Bay Central Square Beach, with a total of 420 teams comprised of 2,100 runners. Every team has five members to complete the relay race by driving and running together for 24 hours.
"We hope to attract more tourists to Hainan through this sport event and build an international tourism consumption center to benefit the local economy," said Mai Youwang, an official from Hainan's sports bureau.
The original Hood to Coast Relay was founded in the United States. The race was held in Hainan for the first time in December 2019.
