According to statistics released by Haikou Customs, the total import and export value of Hainan's trade in goods was 59.84 billion yuan ($9 billion) in the first four months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 68.8 percent.
In April, the import and export of goods trade in Hainan reached 16.47 billion yuan, the highest value in the past five months, with an increase of 80.2 percent.
Thanks to early policies like the zero-tariff positive list of vehicles and yachts, as well as the zero-tariff negative list of production equipment for self-use, Hainan's foreign trade has achieved strong development.
Yangpu Economic Development Zone is one of the 11 key parks of the Hainan Free Trade Port. With the continuous advancement of Hainan FTP construction, a growing number of well-known foreign companies have set up offshore trading companies in Yangpu, with its business scope covering countries and regions like Belgium, Singapore, Brazil, as well as Australia.
Cui Jian, deputy director of the Hainan Provincial Department of Commerce, said that Hainan is building a new pattern of opening-up and promoting the high-quality development of the province's foreign trade.
