The number of single-day new COVID-19 cases across Hainan province has steadily declined for five consecutive days, maintaining a relatively low level. In addition, the number of new cases in Sanya, which were all from people under quarantine for disease control, dropped to a single-digit number for the first time since the province's recent COVID-19 outbreak.
Hainan reported 10 new cases on Sept 6, a new record low, including five from Sanya, four from Danzhou, and one from Haikou. To date, the cities and counties in the province other than Sanya and Danzhou have all been free from community transmission. With the exceptions of Sanya, Danzhou, Ledong, Chengmai, Haikou, and Lingshui, the province's cities and counties free of high and medium-risk areas have adopted regular measures for COVID-19 pandemic prevention and control.
As the epicenter of the Hainan's recent outbreak, Sanya reported 15,633 COVID-19 cases from Aug 1 to Sept 6. Sanya has continued its citywide static management and adjusted the risk areas on Sept 6, with 69 high-risk areas and 72 medium-risk areas.
As the pandemic prevention and control situation in the province continues to improve, Hainan's economic and social development work is returning to normal. On Sept 3 and 5, two international freight routes, respectively between Haikou and Paris, as well as between Haikou and Sydney, resumed operations. In addition, many key parks, projects, and enterprises in Hainan have overcome multiple difficulties to resume work as quickly as possible.
