The large-scale bamboo pole dance performed at the Haikou Wuyuanhe Stadium in Haikou on April 28 set a Guinness World Record as a special celebration of Hainan's 30th birthday.

Hainan opera has been a part of Hainan Island culture since three hundred years ago. From the 1740s to the 1790s the number of theatre halls in Haikou where operas were performed for the locals started to slowly grow.
But for the flights to Sanya, Hainan province, the "Chinese Hawaii" where domestic travelers, young and old, often travel to for their first leisure trip, the flight can feel like you have trespassed onto a kindergarten tour, or found yourself at Disneyland.
