As the World Fly-in Expo (WFE) is approaching, a project collecting mascot designs started at local primary and middle schools in the development zone in Wuhan, central China's Hubei province on Sept 13.
From butterflies and eagles to rabbits and young girls, in around 40 minutes, about 300 students from the Hongshan primary school drew their WFE mascots on papers.
Liu Jinlan, a girl from grade four drew a butterfly as the mascot. She even named it "Meng Meng", meaning lovely in Chinese, and wishes her mascot would fly high along with her dreams.

Liu Fangbo, also from grade four, drew an eagle and named it "Chinese magical eagle".
"I love eagles," he said. "I want to be an engineer when I grow up and build more rockets and spaceships and travel into the universe."
Initiated by the WFE Executive committee, more than 8,000 students from 40 primary and middle schools joined the activity.
The 2017 WFE will be held at the Hannan General Aviation Airport in Wuhan from Nov 4 to 7.
The expo aims to build an exhibition and resource exchange platform that integrates aero sports, sports competitions, technical exchanges, aviatic culture popularization, aviation science education and interactive flight activities.
The four-day expo includes seven flying shows, five competitions and six interactive activities, as well as music festivals, static displays and summit forums, an aviation event with an abundance of activities which will also be of the largest scale in China.
