The development and construction office and administrative committee of Shanghai Hongqiao Central Business District held a conference to discuss its 2016 plans on Feb 24. 

The meeting was chaired by Huang Rong, deputy secretary-general of the Shanghai Municipal Government.

Min Shilin, Party chief and executive deputy director of the Hongqiao CBD Administrative Committee reviewed the construction projects in 2015 and introduced the plans for 2016. Attendees shared their views and opinions on the report and new plans.

Jiang Zhuoqing, vice mayor of Shanghai and director of Hongqiao CBD Administrative Committee spoke highly of the achievements made by the district in 2015 and noted that as one of the six key development areas in Shanghai, the Hongqiao CBD plays an important role in the city’s innovation-driven development and the transformation and upgrading of economy.

Vice Mayor Jiang stressed that the district benefits from being in an advantageous location and close to convenient transportation networks. Both of these are helpful in pursuing economic growth in Shanghai and the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta Area, according to Jiang.

He also urged all departments and enterprises to make better positioning and conduct thorough planning to improve its transportation infrastructure and supplementary facilities so as to strengthen its statue as a center of transportation, commercial activities and exhibitions.

He encouraged coordination among different sectors and joint efforts to promote the construction projects in 2016. 

The administrative committee should serve as a coordination platform and set up a high-efficiency working mechanism, and all units and departments involved should fulfil their duties to support construction across the 86-sq-km area, Jiang noted.

He also emphasized the supervision on construction safety and called for careful deployment to reduce risks and prevent incidents during flood and typhoon seasons.
