Hongqiao Transportation Hub saw a record high passenger flow of 1.32 million people on Oct 1, China's National Day, with an average of 1.18 million travelers per day during the whole National Day holiday.

From Oct 1 to 7, total passenger numbers reached 8.2 million, an increase of 15 percent from the same period last year.

According to statistics released by Hongqiao Hub, the high-speed railway station transported the most passengers every day, accounting for more than 36 percent of the average daily total. The subway took second place carrying more than 28 percent of passengers every day.

Hongqiao Integrated Transportation Hub combines multiple means of transportation. Civil aviation, high-speed rail, interurban trains, the subway, buses and taxis are all accessible from the hub, making Hongqiao one of the largest comprehensively integrated transportation hubs in the world.

The main buildings that make up Hongqiao Integrated Transportation Hub stretch from east to west, and are comprised of the No 2 airport terminal, a railway station, a long-distance passenger transportation station, an east-west transportation center, and a subway station. The entire hub spans a total area of 1.5 million square meters. When functioning at full capacity, the passenger flow through Hongqiao can reach 1.1 million passengers per day.
