The Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station will soon add two new China Railway High-speed (CRH) trains which are to begin operation on Nov 30. Both trains will terminate in Kunming, Yunnan province.

The Shanghai-Kunming railway has a length of 2,266 kilometers traversing from the very east China to the northwest. It will pass six provincial capital cities—Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nanchang, Changsha, Guiyang and Kunming, respectively.
Forget about the older trains which took 39 hours to travel from Shanghai to Kunming. Now, the new CRH train featuring a highest speed of 350 km/h will only take passengers six hours to reach Changsha, Hunan province in central China and ten hours to arrive at the final stop, Kunming, Yunnan province in southwest China.

According to the railway station, ticket prices for the new CRH train range from 600 to 800 yuan ($89-119). As a comparison, the flight and common train price for the same route costs around 1300 yuan and 800 yuan respectively, making the new CRH train the wisest choice for most passengers.
Inside the Shanghai-Kunming CRH train, second-class seats are specially designed to be much broader than those of trains running other routes, even broader than seats on Boeing 737 airplanes. A special carriage for the disabled and infants is also equipped to ensure everyone has a comfortable travelling experience. Microwaves and refrigerated cabinets are available as well.
